From current students:

“I have been predominantly instructed by Sue since 2007, where within one year we progressed from non-competitively competing at unofficial Pony Club dressage and show jumping competitions to competing prelim/novice at associate EFA dressage events. Not only was Sue able to clearly help me grasp the very basics, but her clear instruction and knowledge is continuing through all the elementary work. Each lesson was tailored to how my horse and myself were riding that day, and to my horses needs whether it finding the most comfortable way to warm up the older horse or setting up a routine for the newly broken 4 year old. More importantly, the lessons all worked towards the same goal, in addition to addressing any problems and preparing for upcoming competitions. Sue’s reliability meant she was able to smooth out those pre-competition dramas and nerves no matter how last minute, to even helping warm up the morning of competition and providing feedback. Her advice and help has allowed me to make the jump from pony club competitions to EFA 1*/2**, prelim/novice to elementary (with scores over 60%), even to competing at the 2009 QLD EFA State Championships with scores over 60% in Pony Prelim. I have found Sue’s instruction invaluable over the past few years, and I look forward to continuing to learn from her, and her help preparing for the 2010 QLD EFA Dressage Championships.”

“I have been getting lessons from Sue for the past 3 ½ years. In this time, I have moved through the grades of pony club and Interschool, from unofficial dressage and show jumping to Elementary dressage, Preliminary eventing through to C Grade Show Jumping. She has helped me make the step up from a 12.2hh pony to a warmblood x thoroughbred who successfully competed at National Level in Pony Club, Young Rider and Interschool. With Sue’s instruction, she taught me how to work through my horse’s tension and hot temperament, despite her completely unpredictable nature. To begin with, we could not make it through a prelim dressage test without having to retire. Sue’s experience with hot and difficult horses has taught me to ride my horses to their full potential, consequently placing 4th at the Interschool National Championships for Novice Dressage, and competing 1.2m at Toowoomba World Cup Show Jumping. In addition to teaching me how to relax my horse, she has always provided clear instruction, right from the beginning in understanding working a horse into a contact through to learning some of the medium movements. Sue’s lessons are always well prepared, but flexible enough to allow for time to work through any issues or preparation for competitions. With Sue’s help, I hope to soon establish all the medium movements we have been training, and continue improving my jumping.”

From past students:

“Susan helped me and my mare Lily for over a year or so in 2007-2008. I had engaged Susan after Lily bucked me off as I felt I needed help with her and also for me to regain my confidence. Although I knew Susan was a dressage/jumping instructor, I made it clear that we were riding western and Susan had to use my saddle and western techniques. I realise now how difficult it must have been for Susan, but she happily complied and quickly adapted her riding style to ours, including tack. What really surprised me with Susan is the time she took to understand Lily and how she always puts the well-being of the horse first. I found this attitude extremely important and of high quality. Being an animal communicator myself, I was always reluctant to send Lily away or to trust another person with her handling. With Susan, I knew I had nothing to worry about and Lily was always in good hands. Susan came to our place and rode Lily 5 days a week and gave me lessons. She helped us tremendously and I will always be thankful for all the work she did with us. Susan is not only an excellent horsewoman, she is also punctual and reliable. I would recommend Susan to anyone, including children and those with problem horses.”
